Barbie's Big 5-0!

The international pop plastic queen with an hour glass figure is turning the big 5-0 this year. One way to celebrate the most popular doll's 50th bday, the CFDA asked 50 designers for their take on Barbie's dream wardrobe. Kimmora Lee Simmons, Michael Kors, Calving Klein and Rachel Roy were among some of the designers that dreamt up spectacler creations. Above is a video of the fashion show featured at NY Fall 09 fashion week!

Michelle Obama and Vogue Magazine

I had to make a comment about Vogue's cover girl for March. For some reason, this photo evokes a very soft, warm and inviting feeling to the cover. It's a known fact that Vogue always covers the first ladies but it is apparent that Michelle radiates a common fimilarity that we can all relate to. On the cover she is wearing another Jason Wu dress! So, go and buy a copy of this month's issue of Vogue and enjoy not only the featured article but to also get a sneak peak of all the Spring Merchandise!

Jenelle Monet...Do We Love This Look?

Sarah Jessica Parker and Harper's Bazaar

Where do I start...I have had such a great year thus far! I am engaged to my soul mate(This just happened within the last 2 weeks, I just received MY ISSUE OF HARPER'S BAZAAR SPRING FASHION ISSUE (I haven't even opened it yet!) and NY Fashion week is a day away! So brace yourself because within the next few weeks I will have lots to cover!!

Sarah Jessica Parker is featured in this month's Harper's Bazaar to pay homage to Diane Vreeland, who served as the fashion editor of Bazaar from 1936 to 1962. This current post is so appropriate because my Fiance's proposal was so surreal, so "sex in the City" that I felt the need to highlight a woman who provokes such feelings in women around the world. SJP has become a fashion icon and household name to women of all backgrounds. So, check check out the video above and go and grab a copy of the latest Bazaar...You will not be diappointed!

Bond No. 9... Next Stop Brooklyn!

Brooklyn Stand Up!!! I always wanted to say that...Anyway, Bond No. 9 is launching a new fragrance in March called Brooklyn. Although one bottle of this scent will cost you $220, you have to admit that this bottle is funky! I would purchase this scent just because of the aesthetic of the bottle. The new Brooklyn scent reminds me of the first day I fell in love with hip hop...I know this sounds very corny and cliche but true! When I look at this bottle I start to think of high top reeboks in a variety of colors, my cousin walking around with his brand new boom box blasting the message (Grandmaster Flash and Furious 5), skating parties, bomber jackets etc...I can go on and on, I'm sure you get the point.

SAKS AND THE CITY!

Due to the economic climate, our retail industry is facing hard times, I'm sure you have noticed that many little bear and big bear business are trying creative and out-the-box techniques to lure customers to shop. For example, just the other day, Denny' s advertised nationwide free breakfast to all customers that came at a certain time during the day. As a result of this advertisement, hundreds of customers across the country formed massive lines to experience a free meal. Obviously, in our cash strapped country, people respond to free! Saks fifth Avenue is another retailer who has found a unique way to attract customers to spend spend spend. Saks is launching a new contemporary space in their New York flagship store and tomorrow night, the best sales team will be hitting the floor---the designers themselves! To celebrate the new 3,600-square foot space, designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright from Rag & Bone, Nicole and Michael Colovos from Helmut Lang, Geren Ford, John Patrick from Organic, Trish Wescoat Pound from Haute Hippie, Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava, Rachel Comey, Aimee Cho from Gryphon, and Hanii Yoon from Hanii Y. Most of these off beat designers are new to the company. So, if you ever wanted to put a face to a designer, now is the time. However, I'm not quite sure if you will find any free deals like our fellow Denny's patrons but at least you will be slightly motivated to make a costly purchase based on good customer service!
